To spotlight the event, Carl-Magnus Skogh, 82, a vet Swedish rally legend, drove a 1927 convertible, the 1st auto that Volvo industrially produced. Skogh was one of the respected names who have helped the company to become well-liked on the world map. In the 1960s, together with racing legends like Joginder “Flying Sikh” Singh and Tom Trana, Skogh earned Volvo headlines worldwide with his accomplishments on the world rally circuit from the Saharan Africa to Greek Acropolis. Skogh joined Volvo in 1963 after a successful stint as a rally driver for Swedish rival Saab. He won the Swedish championship in 1960 and 1961, driving a SAAB 96. In 1965, he won the Acropolis Rally in a Volvo Amazon. Skogh’s car experience was crucial to the automaker not only on race courses around the globe, but also in product research and development. In 1978, Skogh set the world speed record for diesel autos with 209 kph in a Volvo 340 he had changed. The rally legend has given to improving driveability and stability features of the autos.
“I designed the framework features of the 850, stressed Skogh. The rally legend intimated that he was happy about driving the most critical auto in the parade. The manager of Volvo Vans, Leif Johansson and the manager of Volvo Vehicles, Fredrik Arp, were his passengers. “I feel good today. It is an experience to have Leif Johansson and Fredrik Arp in the backseat, “recounted Skogh. It can be remembered that in 1999, the Swedish premium automobiles and vans manufacturer was divided into 2 corporations, the Ford Motor Company acquired the car division. Through the years, Volvo has established a good standing when talking about both sturdiness and safety. At the moment the company is struggling to wipe away the boxy image to finish a glorious package. The Swedish automaker set up in 1997 has at last become a leading worldwide producer of commercial automobiles.
To snatch a larger piece of the automobile market, the founders entertained a couple of upgrades and alterations. The normal Volvo brake dust shields and other vehicle parts and gear from the automaker were augmented to supply amazing potency, ergonomics and safety.
